NANS, Nigerian Students plead with ASUU, ASUP, FG to end Strike

The National Association Of Nigerian Students (NANS) Zone C, comprising of north central, northeast and Federal Capital Territory (FCT) chapters, has blamed the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) for continuously failing to reach agreement with the federal government.

The National coordinator of the zone, Comrade Suleiman Muhammed, who spoke yesterday, in Abuja during a joint press conference on the strike appealed to the parties to consider the future of the students and end the strike.

According to him, “Up till now, we have not heard any good news concerning our students so, enough is enough. On the part of federal government, we call on them to be please look at us, we their sons and daughters, they have to consider our education, because it is a right and not a privilege.

"Concerning ASUU, we want them to know that they are doing it for their own personal benefit because the story they tell us is different from what entails when they get to the negotiation table with federal government. I want to advise the federal government that if ASUU continues to sit down at home, we have many graduates who are willing to do the work. Federal government should take a serious decision on this.”

Comrade Mojeed Kolawole, NANS chairman, FCT Axis, ASUU and federal government have been meeting severally but up till now, there has been no resolution between the two.

"We all know that whenever two elephants fight, it is the grass that suffers, which is why we, at the level of leadership of NANS, have taken it upon ourselves to champion the course of freedom, to champion emancipation agenda that will save, not only Nigerian students but the entire youths.”

According to the NANS Zone C director of campus affairs and intervention, Anzaku Shedrack Ovye, ASUU, with all its erudites, was supposed to have known that it was not the right time for them to go on strike considering the negative impact on Nigerian

Comr. Ozioma Oguine (Aluta PARROT) also explained that there is a need for the strike action of all Academic bodies to come to an end.

He said:
"Youths are the leaders of tomorrow,  so to ensure and facilitate our readiness as leaders, we must be properly and efficiently educated. The menace 'strike' have overtime hindered our self and intellectual development as students; making us brain drained. I am pleading with ASUU, ASUP, COASU and the FG to see reasons with us and come to hastened, positive conclusion for the sake of all Nigerian Students".

Although, there have been no remarks from either ASUU, ASUP or the FG. But we are hoping for the swift termination of the Strike Action.
